[WIP] Captain Titus (almost there... almost)

Been buzy/lazy for quite a while, finally painted Captain Titus's sparring partner and the background... but the background seems to be very sloppy and unfinished, mainly because it looks kinda white.. (believe it or not, I clocked like 3 hours or so just to paint/repaint/waiting for paint to dry) all the colors on background is thinned down until it was barely visible and smack on layer by layer.

Blu tac-ed the whole damned thing to see hows the thing go.. not impress... ~_~

(I think the blood splatter is abit over the top, shall I remove that or at least cover it with a boyz corpse...?)

Captain Titus miniature ready to unleash his fury (of not getting properly painted, enlarge the picture, you will get what I mean ~_~)

(I almost cry when I compare this pose to game cover...)

Remaining things to be done/Mental note to myself:
1.) Fine tune the base
2.) A proud "Warhammer 40000 : Space Marine" wording below the diorama <-- any idea where to get a right size one? Or any idea I could get a custom etching/carve/stamp for this?
3.) Get rid or tone down the blood splatter.
4.) Glue em on!
5.) Paint Captain Titus's shadow.
6.) Better lightning, a proper mahjong paper or A3 paper for background

The next time you see a post on Captain Titus, it will be the finish version (I hope....)

Till next time folks, and Happy Chinese New Year in advance =)

[WIP] Captain Titus Diorama (Pt3) (a.k.a"You think this is bad? wait till you see it on pixel screen")

Allow me to reiterate some interesting sig that I saw on a 40k related forum...
"You think this is bad? wait till you see it on pixel screen"

Progress this week:

Touched up and finished the weapon of this prototype boy...

A little hobby tips on painting the checker pattern (the square box on the boyz shoulder pad..), if you try to paint the box with Skull White directly, it will be pretty hard to look nice and even, but if you do a box with a shade of Fortress Grey first then touch it up with skull with, it will goes on smoothly... try this if you are having problem painting the white evenly =)

You can apply the trick above on Gold too, paint a shade of brownish color (eg: Snakebit) then the thinned down gold will easily paint and visible on the surface =D

WAAAAGGGHHHH! (also done some rusty effect on the weapon of the boyz), any suggestion on what color would be nice on Ork hair? Was intended to go for red, but realized that there is too much red on the boyz already, so I just go for Khaki and heavy wash it with Devlan.

This will be the boy that "face" the audience on the diorama, so I did some bling on it's feature... the weapons is still WIP.

And finished captain Titus, was so afraid to screw up his blue power armor, I repaint it quite alot of time using the game cover as reference... can't really paint it to be 100% the same with the cover but I'm quite pleased with the current outcome... the armor end up to have (just a weeeee bit) of NMM feel on it.. The picture don't quite really capture the feel...

Now, now... 2 more boyz and the whole background base of diorama to go.. might took another week or two...

Might also pause it to spit out something for Magacon Pewter Demon entry... any suggestion on any 28mm model that look nice to take part in it?

[WIP] Space Marine Captain Titus Diorama

Not much is done this week...

The 'stage' of captain Titus vs the boyz is set on a ... cotton bud box... some pieces of Basilica Terrain is used and a few piece of cork is stacked.

A few boyz is built for this project... prototyped one of the boyz for the color scheme... This is the first Ork that I painted (thought the skin color tone is kinda similar to my plague marine chosen..) Can't really get the checker pattern right... the current color scheme for the cloth does seems abit off too...

Captain Titus is pinned and glued with this poor Ork Nobz, touched up abit on the green stuff part (but it still looks crude!), also sculpted the finger that "touch" the Ork face

A sneak preview on what will the Diorama looks like =p
Captain Titus is primed white so he will looks "shinny" while the Ork will look abit dirty to contrast with him... Will wash to bring up the details on captain Titus... Still having not much idea on the background, was planning to mimic the "white light" effect as the game cover...

Captain Titus and his green friends...

I've abandoned hobby for almost a full month because of him...
Now... I'm gonna Hobby with him...

Yes... the pose does looks... awkward..

I'm trying to poorly imitate the game's cover :

Ok.. I have to admit, my GS skill sucks, big time, but let's hope what I lack in GS, I make up with the paint job
